革命根據(jù)地體育是指1927年到1949年期間,在中國共產(chǎn)黨和革命政府領導下人民大眾的體育。它具有革命性、群眾性的鮮明特點和濃厚的軍事色彩。從實際出發(fā),艱苦奮斗是它的光榮傳統(tǒng)。它為全國解放后的社會主義體育事業(yè)摸索了經(jīng)驗,準備了干部,開拓了道路。
Sports Thrive in the Revolutionary Bases
During the period 1927-1949, the embattled China was dotted with many Communistled revolutionary bases or liberated areas. Here sporting activities were carried out inevery possible way under difficult conditions—for the definite purpose of building upphysique to beat the enemy and win the people’s wars. Physical education was related closely to military training. At the same time, a good foundation was laid for the later development of sport as a socialist cause.

In the winter of 1942,a sports meet was sponsored by the Office of the Eighth Route Army in Chongqing,with the attendance of many well-known public figures,including Pan Zinian(running at the centre),Mao Dun on his right and Shen Junry running abreast of him.
In September 1942 a sports meet was staged in Yan'an——the biggest ever held in revolutionary base during the War of Resistance Against Japan, with more than 1,300 athletes from all walks of life competing in 23 sports.
